Excuses, Excuses

Turtle is a genius for excuses at bedtime. Yes, even at the tender age of 25 mos. I hear desperately calling from her crib "Mommy, MOMMY!" When I come in and she has a number of different little "go-to" excuses. "NO blankie!" -- handing me her blanket " PURPLE bottle!" -- handing me her blue bottle "No bottle!" -- when she doesn't want the offending thing in her bed "Button this!" "No light off!" "No fan on!" "No socks on!" "Needa rem-ee" (homeopathic remedy) "Wanna wake up!" "Put dis BACK!" -- nothing may be left on the floor of her room And the one that always gets a quick response: "Need-a hav-a go POTTY!" Today, I got a new one that beat all the others in creativity: "Mommy, Mommy, Mommy, MOMMY!! "Yes?" "Hav-a hair in-na mouth!" ???

Positive Thinking!

Thank you God for car accidents in which no one was hurt. Thank you God for the young black policeman that treated me so respectfully. Thank you God for it not being my fault. Thank you God for 3 difficult phonecalls with insurance companies because that means we have insurance. Thank you God for a $500 deductible because that means it's not $1000. Thank you God for chiropractors because they will be able to check my baby for whiplash. Thank you God for my pounding heart when I drive because that means I'll be more careful. Thank you God for $11.52 because at least it's not $0.00. Thank you God for temper tantrums because that means my daughter knows her own mind. Thank you God for thousands of ants in the kitchen, because that means we have food in there. Thank you God for Turtle's bloody tongue, lips and gums, because we got to cuddle on the couch afterwards. Thank you God for a 4 mo. old with a hard time napping because that means I get to hold her more. Thank you Go...

When she dresses herself . . .

. . . you just have to let the shirt be backwards and the pants be mismatched and twisted, with pockets in the back. And if you try to "fix" it, your efforts will be greeted with shrieks and the flushed glow of success and pride will die out of her little face. So, you leave it. It's hard. But you do. Being a mommy is about denying yourself for your child. :)

Does he think it happens magically??

Husband: Come and sit down. I want to watch The Office now. Me: Wait a bit. I can't sit down and relax for the evening till the dishes are done and the kitchen is clean. Husband: There's not that many dishes. Besides, they'll get done. They always get done. Me: Uhhh . . . That's because I do them! How else do you think they "get done" ???

Note to Self

Did you know, that if you got meat out of the freezer for dinner the night before , rather than at 3pm in the afternoon, it would be thawed by dinner AND it would help save energy by cooling your fridge at the same time?

So Much Is Given

Diagnosis

So now I see what my irritable little Turtle needs! This describes her exactly how she's been of late -- every last bit of these symptoms! Homeopathic remedy PETROLEUM MIND: scared, unbearable fear of loud noises which are not understood, delusions, hallucinations EMOTIONS: quarrelsome, argumentative, irritable, easily offended, vexed at everything SKIN: outbreaks, eczema, itching ABDOMEN: indigestion, diahorrea in daytime only, vomiting, nausea EARS: noise is unbearable, diminished hearing EXTREMITIES: back of hands chapped, cracked and bleeding, eczema on legs The amazing thing about finding this remedy is that we had heating oil spill in our basement over a month ago, and the air in the whole house smelled horrible and toxic for weeks. Petroleum? You bet! Homeopathy is amazing. Now to see if this works . . . . And if it doesn't I'm going to run away to China. Notice the Mind and Emotions description? Enough said.

I Still Miss You
