7QT: February Happenings

 They say February is the longest month.  Everyone is feeling rather cooped up and sick of winter, its coats, its cold, its grayness.  Homeschooling attempts are half-hearted and limp.  Arguments and crying are very frequent. Lips and hands are tired of being chapped.  We want spring! 1. We have been bird watching and feeding this snowy month.   We finally bought a bag of seed from a great little shop in our town called Birdwatchers.  We sprinkle the seed on the snow for the ground feeders -- juncos and sparrows -- and we have this Birdscapes Clear Window Feeder  to feed the perching birds.  We have found a place on our kitchen window where the squirrels cannot get to and now we get chickadees and tufted titmice, and once a woodpecker. These little visitors make me so happy.  We haven't been lucky at attracting birds till this winter but I swear now they know us as a feeding spot and come every morning in expectation. ...

Edition 2 of "The Things They Say" 1. Sunshine: "Dad, is Ovechkin [ hockey player ] married?" Daddy: "No, he's not." Sunshine: "Ohhhh, so he's just a grown up kid!" 2. Sunshine:  "Mom I wanna be a doctor when I grow up." Then, later after reading this really tender book  about babies:  "I reeeeally wanna have a baby!  But I wanna be a doctor too. " Me: "You can be a doctor and have a baby." Sunshine: "Oh, I can take care of a baby and be a doctor?  And also live on a farm?  Well, that would be  alot of work.  I would have to take care of people, take care of a baby AND take care of a farm!" 3. Rosebud:  "Moooommm, stop telling me!  I have my good hands and my sensible eyes and I can figure it out all by myself!" 4. Turtle:  "I don't care about money.  People are way too bothered about money.  Life is more important than money!" Rosebud...
