Six months

I have documented my belly growth with Rosebud and Sunshine , so I might as well do so this time too. I feel gigantic and with a whole 11 wks left, I despair of looking like anything other than a beached whale in March/April. Despite my goal to gain less than my usual 38-40 lbs this pregnancy -- so much for my bi-weekly workouts! -- I am right on track for that, like usual. It doesn't seem to matter what weight I start at! Anyways, enough about weight! The baby is growing well and kicking me all sorts of ways and I love all the movement! My own little pal that keeps me company everywhere is still not too painfully strong, which is wonderful :). Not that she/he will ever stop being wonderful, it's just that soon my attitude will shift too such end of pregnancy sentiments as "when will this huge person in my middle get out of me???". But not yet. :) Here's the 6+ month shot:

One of the Reasons

that I will not be at the March for Life with my children on Friday: Eight Reasons Not to Use Graphic Abortion Images at the March for Life  I will pray hard. I will go to Mass. But this article points to several things about the March that I agree with very wholeheartedly!

Thoughts on Jealousy, Mine and Sunshine's

Image
One morning at breakfast: Sunshine:  "When the new baby comes I will hold it and kiss it." Me: "Yes, you will!" Then Sunshine pauses, looks at me and says, "And you will kiss me and then I will break the baby's legs." She fake-laughs kind of sheepishly, looking at me closely the whole time. I don't really react.  How does one react to that?  I think I change the subject.  Later she is looking at the cover of this book: Sunshine, wistfully: "I wish that Mommy bunny could hold me. Does that Mommy bunny like her baby?"  Me: "Yes, Mommies always like their babies." Then I hug her and smooch on her just like the Mommy bunny is doing on her baby.   She smiles a little, but I can tell she is still thinking about something serious. And then I realize. She's jealous. She's already starting to struggle with the dilemma of being "replaced" as the baby -- something that every child with a younger sibling...

Seven Quick Takes, vol 26

1.  I'm starting to think about all things baby this month.  I've passed the 6 month mark and realize that I have a long list of things that I want to accomplish before the baby comes.  I have plans for room rearranging, memory book-making, furniture painting, observations at Montessori schools and album page writing for my CGS certification, school plans to write so we can continue doing it in part after the baby comes.  *Sigh*  So much to do, so little energy.  And things like Downton Abbey and fiction novels and eBay maternity clothes shopping are really good at distracting the free bits of time that I have. 2.   Some baby products that I am wishing for:  Diaper Bag  -- what do you all think?  Hard to buy something as crucial as this without handling it in real life! Baby Room  -- Love, love the aspen branch! Newborn Cloth Diapers  -- highly recommended to me by mom of three under 4 as being super...

Turtle is really reading well! I am so proud and so is she. Last Thursday she read this book we got from the library. It has over 30 pages. It took her the better part of an hour and she needed a little help, but she did it!

Seven Quick Takes, vol 25

1. Merry Christmas!  It's still Christmas and we are rocking the only still-lit-up house on the circle and playing Christmas music as we eat our pancakes in the morning. It's been a lovely season.  Everybody has acquired the new habit of sleeping in and staying in jamies all day. I've tried to keep some of the fun Christmas-y stuff for this time. We decorated gingerbread houses Christmas week and two days ago we went to see a beautiful Walk of Lights in our area. It was really cold but we all loved it. Walk of Lights Gingerbread house making 2. My good friend had her first baby, a girl, on Christmas morning! Go over and wish her Merry Christmas and Happy Baby! 3. We've been keeping cosy with a fire many of these cold days. I love the warmth and romance of the crackling and the light, but when it comes down to it, fires are downright messy and fickle. They require babysitting if the wood isn't perfectly dry, and the firewood bits and a...
