Heritage Zinnias

 Zinnias are my Grandpa's favorite flower.   He has many of them in his back yard flower beds.  Zinnias are beautiful summertime flowers that bloom into October, but at my Grandma and Grandpa's house on Friday I saw that the flowers were fading and going to seed.  The girls and I collected a bag full of "Grandpa's Zinnias" to bring home and plant at our house. Grandma told me that zinnias should be planted in the fall, that the cold winter weather helps them grow better.  So today we sprinkled them in our front bed while talking about Grandpa and how we hoped the seeds would bloom beautifully.  Rosebud said, "When we look at them next summer they will remind us Grandpa planting them.  Even before I was born he planted them!"  "Yes," I said, "and he will be happy to see us enjoying them."
