Letter to my little lassie

Image
I wrote this on our little girl's Baptism Day, January 17, 2010 Dearest little one, Now you are His Love.  Now you are claimed for Christ.  During the first reading at the Mass before your Baptism -- Isaiah 62 -- I thought of you as I listened to the language of love, of belonging, and the promise that you will delight the Lord -- "as the bridegroom rejoices over the bride, so shall your God rejoice over you." He rejoices in you now, Little One!  You are risen from death into life with Him on this most important day of your life.  Jesus delights in you, His daughter, His love, just as I delight in you too, in your sweet, tiny perfection, in your smell, your sounds and the velvety softness of your skin.  I rejoice in you, love, on this Day above all others.  You are now part of the Church, our Church, His Church.  You have received the Promise, never to be broken, of the immortality Jesus wants for you! I love you.  And Jesus loves you. ...

2010 Daybook

http://thesimplewomansdaybook.blogspot.com/ FOR TODAY: January 25, 2010 Outside My Window . . . a strange mix of black clouds and sun with warm temps in the 60s I am thinking . . . that I deserve the Mother of the Year Award for letting my two older children get soaking wet and head-to-toe filthy in a very large mud puddle today. ;) I am thankful for . . . baby snuggle time. From the kitchen . . . Umm. . . birthday cake from Daddy's birthday on Friday? Is that a good dinner? I am wearing . . . black maternity pants, a teal shirt and gray cardigan I am creating . . . enforced "naptime." I'm making the girls have to stay in their room for 5 more minutes. Yeah. Its been that kind of a day. I am going . . . to be SO grateful when spring gets here -- this taste of it is so tantalizing! I am reading . . . Cardington Cresent, by Anne Perry I am hoping . . . my baby sleeps tonight. Five hours of sleep a night is not agreeing with anyone. Also hoping that I'm not getting m...

Turtle's Big Sister-isms

Said possessively to her young aunts and uncles: "This is OUR baby. She is very fragile. And breakable. You can't drop her or she will break!" ************ To me: "I need to burp her. There is a burp stuck in her tummy." Then, to the baby: "C'mon, now spit up! Spit up !" ************* Said indignantly at the baptism, when a wailing Rosebud was carried off by Grammy to the vestibule: "But, Mommy, MY sister wants ME!" ************ And, my favorite: "Mommy, will you come and sit on the couch with me while you're milking the baby?"

Happy Birthday Rosebud!

Poor Rosebud had to wait 10 whole days after her actual birthday (of New Year's Eve) to get to celebrate her 2nd birthday! (Thankfully, she didn't know the difference!) But finally, last weekend I had the energy to make her some "choc-ete cupt-cakes" and have her little party -- complete with balloons blown up by Daddy and party hats master-minded and cut out by Turtle (with Mommy drawing, taping and stringing them). Rosebud got a "carf" just like Mommy and Turtle-- she was feeling very left out! She also got some Legos for her birthday -- which were a big hit. Rosebud calls them "Happy Birfday Legos" and Turtle calls them "Clay-gos" (?? I think she's confused with Play-do?) Happy Birthday Rosebud! You are our little "pepper" and "pistol" :) -- the sunshine of our lives with your sparkly eyes and incorrigible smile. We love your snuggliness and your "twinkle toes" and even your rascally-ness. We love w...

Happy New Year

Image
We were blessed with the birth our third little girl on New Year's Day 2010. We named her after Our Lady as she was born on the Feast of Her Motherhood. The labor was by far my shortest -- regular contractions started at 1am and she was born at 9:20 that same morning. She weighed 7 lbs and 14 oz, which makes her my smallest so far (but she was nearly two weeks early!). We were also blessed to deliver her at home, which is something that I have wanted for years and was every bit as right and good as I hoped and prayed it would be. She is beautiful and of course we are all in love. Thank you to everyone who has been praying for us! Rosebud, who turned two years old only the day before, meeting the baby. She daily points at the baby and asks me "Who's dat?"
