About Me

Hello, and welcome!

Thank you for visiting!

My name is Mary, or M.T., and my days are filled with my faithful Jesus, my hard-working husband, and my 6 amazing  children, aged 1 to 14 years as well as a whole lot of home-making and homeschooling.
I am good at treasuring slow and little things and at my worst in chaos, but I get a fair share of both kinds of living.
I'm a country woman at heart, living in fast-paced suburbia, dreaming of the day when I can go "home" to the country.
I strive to keep our homeschool relaxed and gentle, with an emphasis on independence and flexibility, and good doses of Montessori and Charlotte Mason philosophy.
I work once a week as a catechist in a Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Level 1 Atrium, the opportunity for which fulfilling work I could not be more grateful!
I love to read and write, and craft and sing and also enjoy hiking and decorating -- but I do more laundry, cooking, and bill paying than any of the above!
I consider myself a jack of all trades and master of none.
I'm a lover of home birth, and a buyer of healthy foods.  I always try the natural and home remedy first . . . and second!
Some of my favorite things are a good book, piles of clean, folded laundry, an exhilarating run, the smell of my babies, and bowl of cornflakes!
Some of my least favorite things are people standing beside me while I cook, breaking up kids fights, and that frenetic rush to get out the door.
I wish my house was cleaner.
I wish I were better at consistency and setting goals.
I wish I were better at taking time for the things I love.
I wish I had a wardrobe of clothes that I liked and that fit!
I often feel overwhelmed and discouraged -- some of my worst enemies! But I am learning little by little to be better at my life's work, and every day is a new one!

On this blog I write to test the oft-crumpled and neglected wings of my soul, to see what God is doing, and remember the sweet days of my simple and plain life.
