Image
http://thesimplewomansdaybook.blogspot.com/ FOR TODAY: August 31, 2009 Outside My Window . . . a cool breeze blowing the leaves -- its supposed to be a lovely week! I am thinking . . . about everything I have to do this week! I am thankful for . . . a clean kitchen this morning and that the third load of laundry for the day is already washing. From the kitchen . . . sliced peppered turkey breast, feta cheese, and cranberries on a salad for dinner tonight. I have ambitions of making an apple cobbler too with the apples from my parent's farm . . . but we'll see about that . . . I am wearing . . . a jean skirt, a dark pink shirt, a white sweater, sandals I am creating . . . a baby -- 21 weeks old tomorrow. :) I'm also trying to put together a new work for Turtle about shapes -- I've had it in my mind to do for SO long so we'll see if I can get it finished this week. I am going . . . to plan a two-week menu this afternoon. I am reading . . . I started Kristin Lavransdat...

It's the Little Things

that make me happy some days. Turtle can buckle herself into her carseat! I only have to buckle ONE child. Oh, the luxury! :)

Seven Quick Takes, vol 1

Image
Like I mentioned before, I've been reading Conversion Diary recently and decided today to do my own Seven Quick Takes. #1. The reason for the amount of posting I've done today is this: She fell asleep on the couch for the first time in probably her WHOLE LIFE and so I've been stuck doing quiet things, like being on the computer. Can't do dishes or organize my hall closet. Bummer, right? :) #2. This is the new main attraction at our house: It's a hamster "roll-about"! Scratchy just randomly rolls/zooms around in it, getting lots of exercise and, if Rosebud isn't around, she does fine. Rosebud always has an uncontrollable urge to kick the ball -- makes complete sense, doesn't it? Turtle, on the other hand, supervises the hamster with great care . . . usually. :) #3. This is a luna moth. We captured him as a big green caterpillar, watched him make his cocoon and checked him every day till he emerged. We must have done something wrong though, because...

More Books We Like

Image
I thought I would do this promised follow-up post to one on children's books I did back in May . :) Books for kids have been on my mind recently thanks to a fun Usborne book party I went to last night :) and the fact that all my girls want to do these days is read books -- especially Rosebud. So, here's some more books that we like. Most of these are more on Turtle's level, but Rosebud will read ANYTHING, so there are some she likes too. Freight Train, by Donald Crews Both my girls are crazy about this book, but then, they are crazy about anything having to do with trains. :) Roadwork, by Sally Sutton This is Rosebud's favorite these days! We read it AT LEAST five times a day. I think I have memorized it and Turtle almost has too. You need to read it with all the great sound-effects. :) Wake Up, Farm! by Alvin Tresselt There is a counterpart to this book as well, called Wake Up, City! Hello, Goodbye, by Arlene Alda A book about opposites The Alfie series, by Shirle...
