Seven Quick Takes, vol 31

1. A picture of the best part of my day
Alot of us are sick here and it has been the whine-y-est day in recorded history, but this little guy falling asleep in my arms was wonderful. :)

2.  We are reading alot these long winter days.   Here is a sampling of some current favorites for various members of the household.

3.  The girls have discovered the poems in "Listen, Children, Listen" and are poetry "journaling" (aka copying the poems into their work journals).  Rosebud wrote a poem of her own the other day.  This is how it goes:

THE SUN AND THE MOON

The sun shines on the moon
And the wind blows the moon like a candle
And the moon says "Don't blow me out."

Of course, my child is a prodigy.

4.
There is nothing cosier on winter nights than a fire in the fireplace and their is nothing messier than the various branches and sticks required to start the fire and then the leaves, dirt and spiders that hitchhike their way in on the logs.
Not to mention the film of ash that coats the room. . . .
Sparky loves the sticks though.  Of course.

5.
Laura shared this link and I loved it.   What a warm, simple, down to earth man this Pope we have is!

6.
We have been having various different "political discussions" with Turtle and Rosebud as they try to understand things that they hear Mommy or Daddy say about taxes, or healthcare or the Obama administration in general.  Its hard to understand, and they have such simple minds.  Turtle thinks that she should be the president, or better yet, Daddy should!  "Because he would do all the right things!"

7.
 D. has told the girls about how it makes him angry that the government is taking too much of his money.  "What are you going to do, Daddy?" they say.  "I have to work harder and work smarter," he replied.
So now Rosebud asks often at the end of a day "Are you working smarter, Daddy?"

Oh my gosh - love Turtle! She would be an excellent president, although I can't wish a future in politics for anyone I love. :)

I know! She says "It's more respectful to let people decide what to do with their own money!" :) She would be a good president, then!
